BANGALORE : Over 20 black hybys birds which had migrated into the city recently, were destroyed on Monday by the authorities of Green Lawns school in BTM Layout.
The bird had built its nests on the large beltofarm trees inside the school premises. The reason cited by school Principal Yasmeen Merchant while deposing before the tree unit officer of the forest department Jalani Pasha was that the birds created nuisance to the school children.

A few injured birds have been shifted to a city based rehabilitation centre, said forest department officials. A case has been booked against the school Principal under the Wildlife Protection Act. The authorities have been warned not to destroy the remaining few nests in the school campus.
